The National Survey on Drug Use and Health shows that in a 2007 report for persons age 12 and above the drug of choice was marijuana. There was also higher use of prescription pain medications for non-medical reason than other illicit drugs. These statistics do not mean that other illicit drugs are not a problem or that alcohol use is not a problem because as whole country we have problems with all substance and alcohol abuse.
